Bigoted tweets by recently-elected BV BOE member Jim McMullen made Wednesday’s news, along with a petition by Blue Valley students and parents calling for his removal. McMullen used a Twitter account **identifying himself as a BV School Board member** to publish tweets directly conflicting with Blue Valley Schools’ Strategic Plan and multiple district policies.

McMullen’s statements cast serious doubt on his ability to serve ALL students and families fairly, in accordance with the responsibilities of his office. They also paint the district in a negative light.

We’ll be watching to see how the Blue Valley Board of Education responds to McMullen’s tweets, noting the statement by Board President Patrick Hurley that “discrimination based on race, religion, national origin, marital status, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or disablity, have no place here. All means ALL.” See the TV news story here https://www.kshb.com/.../petition-calls-for-removal-of...
