The following was shared on BV Schools Facebook page yesterday (July 10, 2025). Our comment: We've been saying it for over 10 years...Your vote matters to your local public schools.
Blue Valley Schools, along with public schools nationwide, is monitoring a federal freeze on nearly $7 billion in education grants. Any disruption to funding that supports student mental health, language instruction and educator support creates challenges.
What this means for Blue Valley:
A potential delay or loss in 2025-26 Title funding totaling approximately $342,000, which represents 0.1% of the district’s operating budget.
A loss in funding includes:
$242,000 for teacher recruitment and retention
$71,000 for English learner and migrant student support
$29,000 for student mental health services
We remain committed to supporting all students and will manage the impact of these reductions through careful budgeting and thoughtful resource allocation. High-quality support for our students will continue in spite of this freeze in funding.
We are closely monitoring the situation with the Kansas State Department of Education and will continue advocating for resources that serve our most vulnerable learners.
