New York-based 1776 Project PAC is back

Let’s look at who is 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 Jim McMullen’s campaign for State Board of Education: New York-based billionaire Ryan Girdusky, via his 1776 Project PAC.

The New York billionaire says one in three Kansas kids can’t read. (If he includes 2-5 year olds, maybe...?) 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗺 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝗲.

He touts McMullen being a “past school board member” - but OOPS, the billionaire apparently didn’t hear McMullen was 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗗 from the Blue Valley School Board by voters after serving one term. “Proven Leadership?” No. McMullen was also 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗘𝗗 by fellow Board members from his appointment as BV Board VP after only a few weeks, due to his bad behavior.

Every 1776 Project PAC mailer uses the word “Conservative” over and over - 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘥𝘰𝘯’𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘪𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘴. The Kansas Conservatives we have previously supported are not anti-library, anti-school nurse, anti-mental health supports, anti-school safety, or anti-high school athletics. But that’s how McMullen and his backers view education. McMullen’s views are 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 “conservative” - 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆’𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗢𝗢 𝗘𝗫𝗧𝗥𝗘𝗠𝗘 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗞𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗮𝘀.

The New York-based 1776 Project PAC backed extreme candidates in ALL FIVE seats for the KS State Board of Education this year - District 3 is the only one on BV voters’ ballots.

McMullen is also backed by - and has been an active member of “Moms for Liberty” - the ones who’ve targeted and doxxed teachers, promote vouchers, are actively anti-public education, and show up at School Board meetings to disrupt and create chaos. (See link in comments to learn more about MFL.)

In 2021, McMullen spent over $45,000 of his OWN money to win a seat on the BV School Board (by 51 votes out of over 27,000). This is in addition to however many thousands of $$ spent on his behalf by the 1776 Project PAC in that election. After McMullen’s decisive loss of his BV Board seat in 2025, the billionaire is back to fund his State Board of Education race. We don’t have to ask why. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗮𝗶𝗱 𝗵𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮. (If this is news to you, be sure to follow the links in comments where we document the megalomaniac who wants to “remake” education. He backed the losing slate in the 2023 Blue Valley School Board election, and he has returned in hopes of getting McMullen on the State Board of Ed.)

𝗗𝗢 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝗟𝗘𝗧 𝗮 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗬𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻! VOTE FOR Amy Diediker, the candidate backed by Blue Valley parents and patrons; former BV Superintendent Dr. Al Hanna; Jim Porter, 11-year SBOE member and its former Chair; Game On for Kansas Schools; Moms Demand Action; and multiple current pro-public education KS legislators. (McMullen’s website does not list ANY Kansas endorsements.)
