For Johnson County Commissioner District 4, we have endorsed West Point graduate, former Army officer, native Kansan and longtime Johnson County resident, Teresa Erb. Erb is running for the seat being vacated by retiring County Commissioner Janee’ Hanzlick, who has served 2 terms.

Teresa Erb is running unopposed, but we still invited her to complete a candidate questionnaire, which she did. Here’s an excerpt of her answers regarding Blue Valley Schools:

“Blue Valley public schools have a long record of excellence and are an important

reason Johnson County is such a desirable place to live, work, and raise a family. The

district’s strong academic performance reflects the dedication of its teachers and staff, the involvement of families, and a community that values and invests in public education. Blue Valley also understands that preparing students for the future requires more than academic achievement. Its schools help students develop the skills, knowledge, and opportunities they need to succeed in college, careers, and their communities. I believe Blue Valley provides an excellent return on our community’s investment, and I am committed to being a strong supporter and partner of our public schools.

Johnson County’s excellent public schools are one of our greatest assets. They help our children succeed, strengthen our communities, attract employers, and are a major reason families choose to live here. While the County Commission does not govern our local school districts, county government can and should be a strong partner in supporting their success.

As a Commissioner, I will look for opportunities for the County to collaborate with

school districts on issues that affect students and families, including mental health

services, public health, safe communities, libraries, parks and recreation, and services for vulnerable children and families. I will also support thoughtful economic and housing policies that help teachers, school employees, and young families afford to live in Johnson County.

Most importantly, I will respect the role of our locally elected school boards and

educators. County government should focus on the responsibilities entrusted to it while

working collaboratively with our schools to make Johnson County a place where every

child has the opportunity to thrive.”

As parents and patrons who advocate for our Blue Valley Schools, we think 𝗶𝘁’𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. We appreciate Erb’s willingness to do that. She is in agreement with the vast majority of Blue Valley and Johnson County voters, and we look forward to her work on the County Commission.
