In KS House District 29, we’ve endorsed Medical Social Worker and public school parent, incumbent Rep. Heather Meyer for re-election. HD 29 is in the north central portion of Blue Valley, and includes portions of Shawnee Mission.

While in office, Rep. Meyer has put a priority on supporting public education: fully funding our kids’ neighborhood schools, and attracting and retaining quality educators. Meyer has voted against irresponsible tax policy and in favor of fully funding public education, and has opposed the use of tax money to fund private, unaccountable schools. She voted in favor of fully funding Special Education, and in 2024 voted with the bipartisan majority to pass a compromise tax bill that will provide an estimated $1.2 Billion in tax cuts over three years.

Rep. Meyer regularly joins other area legislators in their monthly “Senate 8 and friends” Town Halls - open to the public and advertised in advance, where voters can hear from elected officials and give them feedback. We are not aware of any of the current BV-area Republican supermajority officeholders who do that. We suspect that plays a large role in Meyer and others being unopposed this year - voters are happy with the job they’re doing.

Heather Meyer was elected in 2021 by the district precinct committee to fill an opening; she was elected by voters in 2022 - against an opponent backed by $14,000 in Americans For Prosperity support - and was unopposed in 2024 and again this year.

When she filed for re-election, Meyer posted: “I haven’t been afraid to take tough votes, speak out, and hold the line when it matters. But there’s still so much more to do. I’m running to keep fighting for accessible healthcare, strong public education, and policies that respect people’s rights, dignity, and the reality of their lives.” We appreciate Meyer and her colleagues who are working for their constituents in these ways.

HD 29 voters know they need to vote in the Nov. 3, 2026 election - early voting starts Sat., Oct. 17 at multiple convenient locations. We encourage them to use our Voting Guide, research candidates for offices not on the Voting Guide, and be sure to vote for Heather Meyer for KS Representative (even though she is unopposed)!
