Linda Featherston for House District 16
In KS House District 16, we have endorsed lifelong Kansan and current KS Rep. Linda Featherston for reelection. HD 16 is in the northwest corner of Blue Valley and also includes some Olathe and Shawnee Mission voters in its boundaries.
Linda Featherston was first elected to the KS House in 2020, was re-elected in 2022 and 2024, and is unopposed in this election. Her adult children attended Shawnee Mission public schools, where she volunteered. Featherston has a degree in music education and is a successful small business owner who has operated a popular piano studio for over 30 years.
In the legislature, Featherston has voted to fully fund our public schools, to support educators, and has voted against voucher-style schemes that would divert tax money to private schools. She has supported local control of public schools. She voted in 2024 with the bipartisan majority to pass a compromise tax bill that will provide an estimated $1.2 Billion in tax cuts over three years. Visit her website, link in comments, to read more about her work in KsLeg and view her lengthy list of endorsements.
Featherston regularly engages with constituents via public forums, and participates in monthly Town Halls - open to the public and advertised in advance. We are not aware of ANY of the current BV-area Republican supermajority officeholders who do that. We suspect this is one reason Featherston is unopposed: HD 16 voters appreciate her willingness to engage and hear their concerns.
We also want to give a special shout-out to Rep. Featherston for her hard work on behalf of other pro-public education, pro-community candidates. She doesn’t have an opponent and could be resting on her laurels - instead she is out knocking doors and talking with voters about the importance of the Nov. 3, 2026 election for the future of our neighborhood public schools and our state.
HD 16 voters have a lot of critical elections on their ballots - and even though she has no opponent (yay!) we encourage them to vote to re-elect their pro-public education House Representative, Linda Featherston.
