In KS House District 20, we have endorsed incumbent Rep. Mari-Lynn Poskin for re-election. HD 20 is on the northeast side of Blue Valley and extends north into Shawnee Mission; it includes BVN High School in its boundaries.

In the KS Legislature, Poskin has voted to fully fund our neighborhood public schools, including excess SPED costs; against vouchers and other schemes that divert tax dollars to private schools; and against anti-voting rights legislation. Poskin voted in 2024 with the bipartisan majority to pass a compromise tax bill that will provide an estimated $1.2 Billion in tax cuts over three years.

Rep. Poskin joins other BV-area legislators in conducting monthly public forums, where voters can hear from elected officials and give them feedback. We are not aware of any current BV-area Republican supermajority officeholders who host such forums. We suspect that plays a large role in why Poskin is unopposed this year. HD 20 voters are happy with the job she is doing in Topeka.

Poskin was first elected to KsLeg in 2020, defeating a Koch-backed Republican candidate. Our members may recall how the Traditional Republican incumbent in HD 20 (public education supporter and current BV BOE member Jan Kessinger) lost in the Aug. 2020 Republican primary to that candidate. Poskin was re-elected in 2022, defeating a Moms For Liberty-backed candidate. In 2024 she was again re-elected by a large margin, and is now unopposed in 2026.

While she doesn’t have to campaign for herself this year, Poskin has been busy working to elect other pro-public education candidates including Cindy Holscher for Governor, Jennifer Day for Secretary of State, and Amy Diediker for State Board of Education. We appreciate her dedication!

HD 20 voters in Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission school districts value their neighborhood public schools, which they consistently show with their votes. We encourage them to plan to vote in the Nov. 3, 2026 election for our endorsed candidates, including Rep. Mari-Lynn Poskin.
